Chad Hall

Hi there!

Whether you just stumbled on to my page or you were pointed here by a friend or colleague, I am pleased to introduce myself to you.

I'm Chad and I serve as the Director of Coaching for Western Seminary in Portland, OR. But that's not all. I also coach, train leaders, facilitate teams and groups, and do a bit of writing.

My real passion is in working with individuals and teams to help them discover what's next and move toward it.

Below is a little more about my background and experience. I look forward to meeting you and would count it an honor to work with you.

-Chad

Background

In 2000 while serving as a consultant with a major Protestant denomination, I began to discover the power of coaching. With the help and encouragement of several master coaches I began my journey into coaching while working with leaders and also planting a new church.

After a decade serving ministry leaders, I joined business intelligence leader SAS Institute, Inc. in 2007 as a Global Training and Development Consultant. With SAS, I coached leaders, trained managers and facilitated teams toward success.

In May of 2009, I took a leap out of the corporate arena and joined the faculty of Western Seminary to teach coaching and serve as Director of Coaching. In this role, I give oversight to the only seminary-based coach training program in the nation and am fortunate to work with a great team of adjunct faculty and support staff.

Along the way, I earned graduate degrees in theology and church history from Duke University and Princeton Theological Seminary and did undergraduate work at Lenoir-Rhyne College. I am also a graduate of The Coaches Training Institute of San Rafael, CA and have taken courswork at Princeton University and Kenan-Flagler Business School at UNC-CH.

I am also a writer, having written extensively on topics of leadership, cultural shifts, organizational change, theology and church history. My articles, interviews and quotations have appeared widely in the media, including: The Leadership Journal, Christianity Today, Next-Wave, Fast Company, Beliefnet.com and a number of scholarly journals. My first book, Coaching for Christian Leaders (2007, Chalice Press) is co-authored with Linda Miller of the Ken Blanchard Companies and explores how coaching can serve as the premiere ministry skillset for excellent leaders.

As a coach, I have obtained the designation of Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coach Federation. This level of certification represents coaches with over 750 hours of coaching experience, hundreds of hours of coach-specific training and passage of a lenghty written and oral exam conducted by the ICF.

On a personal note, I am married for going on 20 years to the love of my life, Holly; together we are blessed with three young children.
